UK offers new study abroad scholarships

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)-  The University of Kentucky is working to increase the number of students graduating with global experience.

The UK International Center’s Education Abroad and Exchanges program (UKEA) says last year, 18 percent of UK’s graduating class graduated with global experience, which is above the national average.

UKEA is trying to lessen the financial burden for students to study abroad by offering a new 2018-2019 scholarship and a program fee reduction initiative.

The scholarship and initiative is being offered for selected UK exchange partners, ranging from $1,000 to $5,000.

The following is a list of scholarships offered by UKEA for international exchange programs for fall 2018, spring 2019 and the 2018-2019 academic year:

UKEA is also offering $5,000 program fee reduction in addition to the scholarships to all students participating in an International Student Exchange Program (ISEP) during the fall of 2018, spring of 2019 and the 2018-2019 academic year.

The reduction does not apply to ISEP Direct or ISEP summer programs.

There are also ten $1,000 scholarships available for the 2018-2019 academic year being offered to students interested in domestic exchange programs.

Early application is encouraged considering the limited number of scholarships available to students.

Students are asked to email EA Advisor and Exchanges coordinator, Laurence Tuccori, for more information and/or to begin the application process.
