Lexington event focuses on fall prevention for seniors
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Seniors and community members are invited to learn how to prevent falls during a special event Monday at the Lexington Senior Center.
The program, hosted by UK HealthCare’s Trauma Program and the Senior Center, runs until 2:30 p.m. at the facility on Life Lane. Experts are sharing tips on home adjustments and care strategies to help older adults stay safe.
Falls remain a leading cause of hospital admissions among people 65 and older. UK Chandler Hospital reported more than 2,400 cases last year, with more than three-quarters involving falls.
The event is part of Kentucky’s Fall Prevention Awareness Week, officially recognized by Governor Andy Beshear, and is free and open to the public. Parking is available at the Senior Center lot.
