UK Crime Bulletin sent out to students Monday afternoon
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A crime bulletin was sent out by email Monday afternoon by UK police to students following a report of sexual abuse made by a student, according to a UK press release.
UK police said they received a Campus Security Authority (CSA) report of sexual abuse involving inappropriate touching on UK’s campus inside a residence hall.
The incident is said to have occurred early Saturday morning, according to the release.
UK police offered tips to stay safe while on campus:
- request bus service during the fall and spring semesters by calling (859) 257-SAFE(7233)
- carry a cell phone in case of emergencies
- walk in pairs or groups
- request a free safecats student safety escort or coordinate after-hours on-demand bus service during the fall and spring semesters by calling (859) 257-7233
- turn over requested items if you are approached by someone
- park in well-lit areas
- if possible, do not travel alone after dark
- if you choose to drink be responsible
- make statements with authority if approached
- request a free Kentucky wildcab ride through the Kentucky Wildcab app which is available 10 p.m. through 3 a.m. Thursday through Saturday when classes are in session
UK police ask if you do see something, say something and for emergencies call 911.
