UK campus survey released
LEXINGTON, Ky (WTVQ) – Last year University of Kentucky participated in a survey regarding safety on campus called The Campus Attitudes Toward Safety (CATS).
According to the results, 98 percent of students feel safe during the daytime and three out of four feel comfortable on campus after dark. The survey does show fewer female students feel comfortable walking around campus at night.
Just a few weeks ago UK president Eli Capilouto said students and faculty safety is the number one priorty of the university, and that is why they take the appropriate actions.
Chief Joe Monroe says, “The enhancements that the university has put forth, the cameras, the emergency notifications, the blue phone towers that are visible at night as well, and our mobile safety app they we rolled out.”
This is just the first survey that was conducted. The university and UK Police Department hope to learn from each year’s results.
