UK Athletics Budget Update
The University of Kentucky’s governing body for athletics, the University Athletics Committee, met earlier today and approved a $104.4 million athletics budget for the 2013-14 fiscal year.
That’s an increase of $12.5 million from $91.9 million in 2012-13.
UK exceeded that budget in the 2012-13 year by roughly $4 million. That’s largely in part to capital projects though (new track, softball and soccer complexes).
The football budget will be close to $3 million larger next year.
Up from about $9.5 million last year to $12.6 million for ’13-14.
Two-thirds of that budget increase for football will directly cover higher salary costs of the new football staff. Head coach mark Stoops and the two coordinators will make close to $1 million more than Joker Phillips and his two top guys alone.
Attached are UK Athletics slides from this morning’s meeting.
