U.K. Running Back arrested for sexual abuse

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A University of Kentucky football player is behind bars facing serious charges.

Police say 21-year-old running back Jamarion Wilcox was arrested Friday morning and booked into the Fayette County Detention Center. He is charged with first-degree sexual abuse in connection to an incident on South Upper Street last month.

Earlier this month, Wilcox appeared in court Wednesday in connection with domestic and interpersonal violence allegations.

We reached out to the university for a statement, they say “we are aware of the situation with Jamarion and will continue to gather information and monitor the situation closely. He will continue to be withheld from competition and will not travel to South Carolina,” said Susan Lax, Director of Athletics Communications and Public Relations / Primary Football Contact with UK Athletics.

Detectives with the Special Victims Section are continuing to investigate and are asking anyone with information to contact Lexington Police or leave an anonymous tip with Bluegrass Crime Stoppers.
