Two women are under arrest in Laurel county for stealing from a dead man, according to police.
The Laurel County Sheriff’s office said they were called to a home on Dogwood Lane near London on Saturday.
Deputies said they found the man dead.
They said they also discovered that the man’s girlfriend, Carole Jones, 53, at the home.
Deputies said she had Xanax pills, morphine and a considerable amount of cash that she stated she had removed from her dead boyfriend prior to their arrival.
They said she told them she took it from the deceased because he would have wanted her to have it.
The sheriff said another woman was found inside a detached garage belonging to the deceased man.
Amy Vanover, 41, was found with a spoon and needle in hand, and in possession of morphine allegedly given to her by Jones, according to deputies.
They said Vanover also had stolen items taken from the deceased man’s garage stuffed in her pants.
They said Vanover told them Jones gave them to her because her boyfriend would not be needing them.
