LOS ANGELES, Calif. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Two massive wildfires have swept through Los Angeles County since January 7, leaving at least 25 people dead and destroying more than 12,000 structures.
The fires, fueled by drought conditions and strong Santa Ana winds, have devastated communities across Malibu, Pasadena, and Pacific Palisades. Firefighters, National Guard troops, and federal aid are working tirelessly to contain the flames, which remain only partially under control. Officials continue to warn residents to stay vigilant as red flag warnings persist throughout the region.
Back in Kentucky, Governor Andy Beshear and First Lady Britainy Beshear shared their support for those affected by the wildfires. The governor noted that Kentucky’s Division of Forestry is prepared to assist California once official approval is given.
“So, we are waiting on the call. And if we receive it, we will absolutely be there to help our fellow Americans dealing with the scope of a disaster that we’re all too familiar with, though ours came with winds and with water,” Governor Beshear said.
First Lady Britainy Beshear encouraged Kentuckians to contribute to relief efforts by donating to organizations like World Central Kitchen and Baby2Baby.
