Two Whitley County women indicted on murder charges in child death case
WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Two Whitley County women have been indicted on murder and drug-related charges in connection with the July death of a young child, according to newly filed court documents.
Indictments returned by a Whitley County grand jury and entered on Dec. 15 charge Robin L. Siler and Jasmine S. Siler each with one count of murder, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. The charges stem from events alleged to have occurred on or about July 4, 2025, in Whitley County.
According to the indictments, prosecutors allege the defendants acted “individually or in complicity with another” and, under circumstances showing extreme indifference to human life, engaged in conduct that created a grave risk of death and resulted in the death of a child identified in court records only by the initials “L.M.” Both indictments also allege the defendants knowingly possessed methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia on the same date. Court records list a $1 million cash bond for each defendant.
In July, ABC 36 News Now reported on the drowning death of a 16-month-old boy found unresponsive in a swimming pool at a Whitley County home on the Fourth of July. That child was identified by the Whitley County Coroner’s Office as Lucas Mattie. Kentucky State Police said at the time the investigation was ongoing.

The indictments filed this week do not publicly identify the victim by name, and court documents list the child only by initials “L.M.”
The case remains under investigation. Additional court proceedings are expected.
