Two reported school threats, one charged in Lawrence County

LOUISA, Ky. (WTVQ) – State Police investigated two separate threats of school violence in Lawrence County on Tuesday, resulting in one teenager being charged and another being disciplined by the school.

Investigators say in one case a girl at the school started a rumor that a boy made verbal threats and social media posts claiming he was going to carry out acts of violence at the school.

State Police say the rumor was unfounded and the girl accused of starting it was disciplined by the school system.

In a separate incident, State Police say a 17-year old student made statements about carrying out a school shooting.  The boy was charged with terroristic threatening and lodged in the Boyd County Juvenile Detention Center, according to KSP.  His name wasn’t released because of his age.
