Two people rescued after fire in Georgetown

Crews are still investigating the cause and origin of this fire.

Georgetown, Ky (WTVQ): A fire on a property on lisle Road Wednesday morning sent

two people to the hospital. The Scott County Fire Crews got the call around 6:15 Wednesday morning. Michael Hennigan, Director of Scott County EMS, says crews were fighting the fire in the middle of the yard, when they started to hear a knocking from a small storage shed in the back.

Three separate buildings impacted on this one property. including the detached garage, car port and storage shed, with very little damage to the home, and within minutes.

“Made entry to that building and found two people inside,” Hennigan said. “Both were rescued, one person was transported for smoke inhalation. The amount of material on the ground and a whole lot of flammable stuff all touching each other, the fire moved pretty fast in the backyard.”

James Allen, who has lived in this house for three years, says the electricity went out then, “the first sound I heard sounded like gun shots.” Allen says all he could hear were the bangs of things exploding. “The cars on fire, the propane might blow up! The way I noticed the fire was just ridiculous,” he said.

Jeff Ball has lived in this home for 40 years. He knows it could’ve been much worse. “Thank the good Lord, just a cut on the wrist and a little smoke inhalation,” he said.

Crews are still investigating the cause and origin of this fire.
