Two people are arrested in Powell County for animal cruelty and child abuse

POWELL COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Authorities in Powell County have caught two individuals on charges of animal cruelty and child abuse following a distressing discovery at a residence in Clay City.

Lonetta Daniels, 35, and Matthew Bowen, 42, were taken into custody Wednesday after deputies from the Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of concerning conditions at the home.

When they arrived, law enforcement says it found four children and a total of 24 animals living in deplorable conditions. Most of the animals were reported to be malnourished, prompting immediate action from social services to ensure their welfare.

The Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into this case, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding both animals and children from neglect and mistreatment.
