Two overnight apartment fires in Lexington displace residents, one person hospitalized
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Lexington firefighters responded to two separate overnight apartment fires early Friday morning, both of which resulted in minor damage and the displacement of residents, according to Battalion Chief Derek Roberts.
The first fire was reported at 1349 Centre Parkway around 2:31 a.m. Crews quickly extinguished the flames and contained them to the room where it started, preventing the fire from spreading to neighboring units. One person was taken to the emergency room with non-life-threatening injuries. According to apartment management, lodging will be provided for the displaced resident.
Just over 20 minutes later, at 2:55 a.m., fire crews responded to 421 Redding Road for a possible balcony fire. The fire was quickly brought under control and contained to a room and the balcony area. One person was displaced from the affected apartment, and another person and their dog were displaced from the apartment below due to water damage. No injuries were reported, and both households made their own arrangements for lodging.
Fire investigators were on the scene of both incidents to determine the cause of the fires.
