Two officers shot, suspect in hospital after shooting
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — Officials say two police officers and a suspect are in the hospital after a shooting during a traffic stop in Louisville around 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
Police say the shooting happened after the officers pulled over a reported stolen vehicle on Roselane Street.
According to investigators, there was a struggle over a gun between officers and one of the people in the vehicle.
Shots were then fired, hitting the suspect as well as the two police officers. One officer was hit in the hand and the other was hit in the leg.
Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg says the officers were taken to UofL Hospital and are expected to be okay.
“Both officers are fortunately in good spirits and on the road to recovery,” Greenberg said. “I want to give a giant thanks to both officers and everyone on LMPD who goes above and beyond every day to work to keep all of us safe throughout the entire community.”
The suspect was taken to Jewish Hospital and is also expected to be okay.
The investigation into the shooting continues.
