Two men arrested after alleged fraudulent ATM transactions
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 News Now) — Two men are facing serious charges in Fayette County after allegedly making hundreds of fraudulent transactions at ATMs using fake debit cards.
According to the Lexington Police Department, its Financial Crimes Unit was alerted to a pattern of suspicious activity involving forged cards at area ATMs.
Officers say 52-year-old Sergiu Railean was arrested and charged with more than 110 counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree. Police also arrested 54-year-old Fernando Perez, who faces nearly 150 counts of the same charge, along with charges of false making or embossing credit cards.
Both men are being held at the Fayette County Detention Center as the investigation continues.
