Two horses rescued, recovering after 20 horses shot dead from same herd
FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Dumas Rescue helped bring two horses from a strip mine in Floyd county into Kentucky Humane Society’s care.
This is the same area were 20 horses were found shot dead on December 17.
The two horses are recovering at Willow Hope Farm in Simpsonville.
According to a Facebook post, they are being assessed medically and behaviorally.
“The colt took everything in stride as long as his mom was close, but the mare was showing signs of stress and anxiety on arrival,” said Lori Redmon, President & CEO for KHS.
There are believed to be three more horses from the same herd still at the strip mine site.
Dumas Rescue said it’s going to try and capture the remaining three horses too.
