Two firefighters injured during fireworks show in Martin

MARTIN, Ky. (WTVQ) – Two firefighters suffered minor injuries from faulty fireworks during the official 4th of July celebration Sunday in Martin, according to a Facebook post by the Martin Volunteer Fire Department.

The fireworks show was forced to end early following the accident, according to the social media post.

The two firefighters, who were not identified, were taken to Martin ARH Our Lady of the Way Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to the Facebook post.  The extend of the injuries was not disclosed.

The fire department says all safety precautions were taken during the event and the fact that there was still an accident shows the importance of being extremely cautious when handling fireworks.
