Two drivers killed in head-on crash in Laurel County identified
LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Two drivers were killed following a two-vehicle crash in Laurel County on Sunday.
The Laurel Sheriff’s Office says the crash occurred on Kentucky 30 about two miles north of London just after 9 p.m.
Deputies say an SUV was traveling northbound in the southbound lane and struck a southbound car head-on.
The driver of the SUV and the driver of the car were both pronounced dead at the scene.
The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victims in the fatal crash.
The driver of the SUV was 57-year-old Richard Allen Thomas of Earley, according to investigators.
Deputies say the driver of the car was 27-year-old Kevin Michael Sparkman of Hazard.
A passenger in the car was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Hospital with critical injuries.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
