Two dead in Bell County crash

PINEVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – State Police say two women were killed Wednesday night in a collision in Bell County.

Investigators say the accident happened around 9:41 p.m. on KY 221 in Pineville.

State Police say the preliminary investigation indicates that a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser was traveling west on KY 221 when the vehicle dropped off the right side of the road and hit the guardrail.  The vehicle then crossed the center line into the path of a 2003 Chevrolet Trail Blazer that was traveling east on KY 221.  The PT Cruiser was struck on the passenger side, according to investigators.

The two women inside the PT Cruiser were pronounced dead at the scene, according to KSP.  The driver was 49-year old Melissa Saylor, of Arjay.  The passenger was 26-year old Katrina Coots, of Middlesboro, according to State Police.

The woman driving the other vehicle, 46-year old Angela Eldridge, of Pineville, was taken to Pineville Hospital.  She was listed in stable condition, according to State Police.

A KSP Accident Reconstruction specialist responded to the scene to continue the investigation.
