Two crashes affecting Lexington traffic

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Two car crashes slowed down Lexington traffic late Sunday night.

Around 9:45 p.m. a car crashed into a bridge on the inner loop of New Circle Road near Georgetown Road.

The two people in that car were taken to the hospital.

Police say alcohol could have been a factor.

As traffic backed up, three other cars crashed. Two people from that crash were also taken to the hospital. Their injuries are minor.

Lexington Police expect to open one lane of the outer loop of New Circle soon, but officers are waiting on the state to assess the damage to the bridge.
