Two charged in Laurel County church burglary

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Laurel County Sheriff’s Office says two people were arrested for a church burglary in Laurel County.

Sheriff’s deputies say they arrested 54-year-old Leonard Jones and 51-year-old Vernon Wilsons around 2 p.m. Saturday.

Deputies say they used video surveillance to identify Jones and Wilson for the burglary of Hazel Patch Church in London. Sheriff’s deputies say the two caused over $1,000 worth of damage to the doors of the church during the burglary.

According to deputies, Jones was charged with burglary, criminal mischief, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputies say Wilson was charged with burglary and criminal mischief.
