Two arrested in McCreary County after teen found unresponsive and later dies

MCCREARY COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Two people have been arrested in McCreary County after a 14-year-old boy was found unresponsive and later died, according to uniform citations from the McCreary County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies responded to a residence on West Highway 92 around 6 a.m. Monday after receiving a call about an unresponsive teenager who was not breathing. Authorities say the teen was taken to Wayne County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

When they got to the hospital, deputies noted the child had serious injuries, according to the citations. During the investigation, officials say two individuals, identified as Jeremy Ridner and Billie Bolin, admitted to knowing about the child’s injuries but did not seek medical attention. Both have been charged with first-degree criminal abuse.

The citations indicate an autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause of the teen’s death. Both Ridner and Bolin were arrested in Whitley City on Geary Avenue and are being held in the McCreary County jail.
