Two arrested after credit card skimmer found at Lexington store
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Two men have been arrested following the discovery of a credit card skimmer at a local store in Lexington.
According to the Lexington Police Department, officers were sent to the Winburn Fruit Super Market on the 1100 block of Winburn Drive on July 15, 2024, after a credit card keypad skimmer overlay was found in the store. Police arrested two male suspects at the scene. Mihai Neacsu, 39, who is listed in the Fayette County Detention Center as Giorgio Lorenco, and John Doe, listed as Michele Farsoni, were charged with Unlawful Access to a Computer 1st Degree, Engaging in Organized Crime, Use of a Scan Device/Reencoder to Access/Transactions Information from a Credit Card 1st Offense, and Possession of Burglary Tools. Both suspects are currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center. John Doe’s identity is still under investigation.
At this time, the extent of the compromised financial data is not known. Detectives are asking anyone who used a credit or debit card at the store to check their accounts and report any suspicious activity.
