Twenty-two kids escape serious injuries in Letcher County bus crash
NEON, Ky. (WTVQ/Press Release) – Kentucky State Police is investigating a school bus accident that happened Tuesday afternoon in Letcher County.
According to KSP, Post 13 in Hazard received a call around 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 17 about a school bus that had been involved in an accident on Goose Creek Road in the Neon community.
Once on the scene, troopers found a Letcher County School bus turned over in the ditch off of the right shoulder of the road.
The initial investigation showed that Arlie Lee, 66, of Mayking was driving the bus on Goose Creek Road when it went off the road causing it to overturn. Lee was wearing a seat belt. At the time of the collision, 22 children were on the bus.
First responders got to the scene and took one child to Whitesburg A.R.H. to be treated for minor injuries from the crash. The rest of the children were released to their guardians after that.
The accident is under investigation by Trooper Branden Watts.
