TWC customers may have had email passwords stolen

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Time Warner Cable says up to 320,000 customers may have had their email passwords stolen in a cyber attack. The company says email and password details were gathered either through malware downloaded during phishing attacks or indirectly through data breaches of other companies that stored TWC’s customer information.

The company says it doesn’t know yet how the information was obtained.

TWC says it’s sending email messages and notices through direct mail to encourage customers to update their email passwords as a precaution.
