Troopers urge caution after fatal crash involving juveniles

Kentucky State Police say a 21-year-old was killed in an Easter Sunday head-on collision in Rockcastle Co.

ROCKCASTLE COUNTY, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — Kentucky State Police are continuing to investigate a deadly crash that happened on Easter Sunday.

Troopers say the collision occurred just before 4 p.m. on Brindle Ridge Road in Rockcastle County.

According to investigators, two juveniles were in a Ford F-250 when a boy juvenile driver crossed the center line and hit another car head-on. The driver of that car, 21-year-old Jacob Madden, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two juveniles were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Trooper Scottie Pennington with Kentucky State Police is urging parents to stay alert and involved when it comes to young drivers.

“Be nosey, know what your child is doing, know where your child is going,” Pennington said. “There’s apps you can put on your phone now that you can tell if they’re texting and driving, you can tell if they’re driving at a high rate of speed. Be nosey, know who your children are hanging out with so they do make it home when they leave,” said Pennington.

Troopers say the investigation remains ongoing, and some details are limited due to the active nature of the case.
