Trooper who died in accidental fall honored before game
SOMERSET, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Kentucky State Trooper who died in an accidental fall was honored tonight at a high school football rivalry game that he used to play in not that many years ago.
Trooper Mason Flynn, of Science Hill, played for Pulaski County High School.
The game ball for Friday’s showdown with Southwestern, was flown-in by helicopter by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office.
The ball was presented to Flynn’s widow, Katie LeeAnn Parks Flynn.
Players from both teams wore stickers on their helmets with Mason Flynn’s high school jersey number.
The late Trooper was honored by his alma mater before a recent Pulaski County home game against Lincoln County.
State Police say the 24-year old Flynn was off duty September 26, 2016, when he slipped and fell more than 20-feet while helping a friend put a tin roof on a hay barn in Pulaski County. Flynn hit his head, suffering a traumatic brain injury, according to the coroner.
Trooper Flynn was a two-year veteran of the State Police. He was assigned to the London Post at the time of his death.
