Triathletes Swim, Bike, & Run For A Cause

It was a long Saturday for five athletes. But they’re motivated.

They’re taking part in a triathalon to raise awareness of human trafficking. The day began at Spindletop Hall at six a.m. with two and a half hours of swimming. Then they rode bikes until sundown. Then, they’re running until nine a.m. Sunday.

The five say human trafficking is an issue everywhere, including Lexington.

"We learned about the slave trade back in the day and its even worse now," Paula Heron told ABC 36 News. "It’s a 32 billion dollar industry. It’s happening all around us and so secretive but yet so prevalent that it blows my mind that we don’t know."

A festival follows the triathalon, with money going toward a charity that fights human trafficking.
