Trial date set for woman accused of murdering boyfriend

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A November trial date was set Friday for a Lexington woman who is accused of stabbing her boyfriend to death and then stealing a bucket truck and leading police on a 40-mile chase while under the influence. A judge set a November 14, 2016, trial date for Vanessa Napier. Three days were set aside for the trial. If more time is needed to complete the proceedings, November 21-22 will be used as additional days, according to court documents.

Police say in July 2015, Napier stabbed John Sharp to death at his home on Athens Walnut Pike. Police say Napier told investigators that Sharp had sexually assaulted her. Napier was initially charged with nearly a dozen offenses, including murder, wanton endangerment and tampering with evidence.
