Trial date set for Shannon Gilday in 2022 murder of former lawmaker’s daughter
RICHMOND, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – A trial date has been set for Shannon Gilday, the man accused of killing former state lawmaker Wesley Morgan’s daughter Jordan, during a 2022 home invasion in Richmond.
During a status hearing Monday, a judge scheduled Gilday’s trial to begin May 1, 2026, and continue through May 29, 2026. Court records also show the defense has until November 26, 2025, to file any motion for a change of venue.
Gilday is charged with murder and other offenses after police say he broke into the Morgans’ home and fatally shot 32-year-old Jordan Morgan while she was sleeping. Attorneys for Gilday have previously asked the court to remove the death penalty from consideration in the case.
A status hearing is now scheduled for January 20, 2026, followed by a trial management conference on March 20, 2026.
