Trial date set for man accused of Scott Co. deputy’s murder

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) — The date for the start of Steven Sheangshang’s trial, the man accused of killing a Scott County deputy, was set in Scott County court Thursday.

A judge determined the first day of Sheangshang’s trial will begin on Feb. 24, 2025.

Sheangshang appeared in court via Zoom from the Bourbon County Jail, where he was moved to from the Fayette County Detention Center.

The 46-year-old has a litany of charges against him, including murder of a police officer, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, robbery, wanton endangerment, assault, burglary, fraudulent use of a credit card and many more.

Sheangshang will appear in court again in Scott County on May 9 for another status hearing.

He’s accused of killing Deputy Caleb Conley back in May 2023 during a traffic stop on 1-75.

He pled not guilty.
