Trees Along Man O’ War Boulevard To Be Replaced
Kentucky Utilities and the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government have joined forces to help make Man O’ War Boulevard safer.
They will remove 14 large trees that could potentially fall onto power lines in a story and will replace them with 33 smaller trees.
LG & E and KU put a $4,000 Plant the Planet grant toward the project and the Urban County Council’s Corridors Commission added an additional $4,000.
The work is scheduled to start next week and will take place along Man O’ War Boulevard between Parker’s Mill Road and a golf range.
The new trees will be species native to the area like Eastern Redbud, Allegheny Serviceberry, and Winter King Hawthorn.
