Transy men’s hoops picked 3rd in HCAC

Greenwood, Ind. – The Transylvania men’s basketball team has been forecasted for a third-place finish in the 2017 edition of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s basketball preseason coaches’ poll, the conference revealed Tuesday.

Transylvania received 73 voting points, the third-highest amount received in the poll. Leading the poll was defending conference champion Hanover College, which collected 99 points and nine of 10 first-place votes, followed by Mount St. Joseph University, which received 88 points and the other first-place vote.

The Pioneers return four of five starters to their lineup this season and welcome 12 newcomers to their roster.

Transylvania is coming off a 17-10 season, including an 11-7 run through the HCAC regular season and a fifth-place regular-season finish. The Pioneers qualified for the HCAC Tournament in 2016-17 where they advanced to the conference semifinals against Hanover.

The Pioneers tip off the 2017-2018 season on Wednesday, November 18 at the Beck Center as they host Greenville University at 7:30 p.m.
