Train derailment injures four, causes evacuations

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) — Georgetown Police say a train ran off the tracks in Scott County late Sunday night, causing four injuries and evacuations from two nearby trailer parks.

Police say the crash was the result of a collision between two trains.

Emergency Management crews say there was a concern about hazardous materials being spilled, which prompted the evacuations.

The accident shut down Lisle Road and sections of I-75 for several hours.

Crews allowed people to return to the Spindle Top and Ponderosa trailer parks around 2:30 this morning.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash.
