Traffic Stop Leads to Marijuana Bust on I-24
PADUCAH, Ky. (WTVQ) – A traffic stop along I-24 led to the discovery of approximately 61-pounds of high-grade marijuana that landed two people from California in jail, according to State Police.
Investigators say State Police stopped a 2011 Dodge Ram Pickup Truck for a traffic violation near the 16 mile marker.
State Police say the Trooper observed several indicators of criminal activity.
Investigators say a K-9 from the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office alerted on the truck.
State Police say a search of the pickup turned up approximately 61-pounds of high-grade marijuana and $2,737.00 in cash.
The driver, 32-year old Joseph Heyden, of Eureka, California, was arrested on trafficking charges, according to KSP.
A passenger, 35-year old Hannah Joy Voigt Silva, of Oakland, California, was arrested and charged with Complicity to Traffic Marijuana Greater than 5-pounds 1st Offense, according to State Police.
The two suspects were lodged in the McCracken County Detention Center.
