Traffic stop leads to marijuana bust
KUTTAWA, Ky. (WTVQ) – A traffic stop on I-24 in Lyon County landed a California man in jail on drug charges after State Police say they found 53-pounds of marijuana in the suspect’s car.
Investigators say a Trooper stopped a 2002 Mercedes C320 around 12:30 p.m. on Monday for a traffic violation. The Trooper says he saw several indicators of criminal activity, including a small bottle of medical marijuana in plain sight.
A probable cause search of the car turned up 53-pounds of marijuana, 200 containers of marijuana oil and $1,551.00 in cash, according to KSP.
Investigators say the driver, 22-year old Joshua Castanenda, of Elk Grove, California, was arrested on drug charges and lodged in the Caldwell County Detention Facility.
