Traffic stop in Berea leads to two arrests on drug charges
MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Two people are facing drug charges following a traffic stop on Interstate 75 in Madison County.
According to police, Heather Anderson and Travis Smith were arrested Wednesday after officers pulled them over on I-75 southbound near Berea.
Authorities say during the stop, officers found a plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine inside the couple’s vehicle.
Police also say a patrol K-9 with the sheriff’s department was brought to the scene and alerted officers after detecting the odor of drugs allegedly coming from the vehicle.
Anderson and Smith are now facing drug trafficking charges. Additional details about the investigation have not been released.
