Motel fire forces guests from their rooms; no injuries
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Fifteen guests, including three children, were forced from their rooms by fire Wednesday night at the Day’s Motel on Versailles Road in Lexington, according to firefighters.
No injuries were reported. Investigators say five motel rooms were destroyed. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
The call came in just before 10:00 p.m. with reports of smoke pouring out of the roof of the motel.
Initially 14 units responded to the scene from the Lexington Fire Department. Lexington Police closed a stretch of Versailles Road at Delmont Drive and began providing traffic control and setting up detours.
The local chapter of the American Red Cross helped the displaced guests find another temporary place to stay.
