Traffic Alert: New Circle Closures Start Overnight
LEXINGTON, Ky. (KYTC) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Department of Highways, announces that this advisory serves as an update. Temporary closures will continue for New Circle Road/KY 4 and Newtown Pike/KY 922 in Lexington, Fayette County. The closures are necessary for routine bridge maintenance work to be completed.
Friday, Oct. 28 – the ramp closure will be in place beginning at 1 a.m. and will reopen at 4 p.m.
- Ramp 9B:
o this location is from the inner loop of New Circle Road at mile point 3.18 to northbound Newtown Pike
Friday, Oct. 28 through Saturday, Oct. 29 – the right two lanes will remain closed until 3 p.m. Saturday
- the two right lanes of the Newtown Pike Bridge at mile point 1.356:
o this closure includes the merge lane from Ramp 9B and the right thru northbound lane
o the left thru northbound lane will remain open
Note
- as work continues — it could be deemed necessary to close the right lane of New Circle Road under the bridge
Alternate Route
- motorists can utilize Exit 8 to Georgetown Road and take Citation Boulevard to Newtown Pike
All work is subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
