Tonie Morgan wins National and SEC player of the week
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Kentucky women’s basketball point guard Tonie Morgan has been named the Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week and Co-SEC Player of the Week following her two games last week.
In last week’s two games, Morgan averaged 24 points and 13 assists per game, including a game-winning three-pointer against LSU on Thursday.
The back-to-back double-doubles were Morgan’s third and fourth of the season. She became the first UK player ever to record consecutive games with at least 18 points and 12 assists.
Morgan and the Wildcats return to action Thursday in Tuscaloosa to take on the 15–1 Alabama Crimson Tide. The game is set to tip off at 7 p.m. on the SEC Network.
