Tire Pressure
Today we’re going to talk about tire pressure, and the monitoring systems that are located on new vehicles. With the change in season, you get a change in tire pressure. As temperature drops, so does your tire pressure. Improper tire inflation can cause unnecessary wear on your tires. An under inflated tire is going to wear the edges of the tire, whereas as an over inflated tire is going to wear the center of the tire. That can lead to purchasing new tires much sooner than you should.
Most new vehicles are going to come equipped with a tire pressure sensor. This is going to give you a warning light on the inside of the vehicle, that tells you when you’ve lost roughly about 15% of the air. In the winter time, that’s going to be a common light. So always bring it in to get it checked as soon as that light comes on.
To know your vehicles proper inflation, you can check the placard that’s typically located inside the driver door, to know where the psi should be set. Or bring it in, and we’d be happy to check it for free.
