Tire explodes, killing Pike County man

PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Officials say a Pike County man was killed in what they call a freak accident.

The Pike County Coroner’s Office says 47-year-old Donald Belcher, of Elkhorn City, was working on the tire of a dump truck with another man when the tire exploded.

The coroner says Belcher was hit by a piece of metal from the rim.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident happened at Elkhorn Truck Parks on the Regina Belcher Highway near Elkhorn City.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
