Tips to stay safe in the heat

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) With dangerous heat taking hold across the region, Georgetown-Scott County EMS is urging residents to take precautions and stay safe.

Officials say the best ways to beat the heat include staying hydrated, taking regular breaks in the shade or air conditioning, and being aware of the signs of heat exhaustion, such as dizziness, nausea, and excessive sweating.

They’re also reminding the public to check on those most vulnerable to extreme temperatures—especially seniors, young children, and pets.

“Beat the heat—don’t let it beat you,” EMS officials said, encouraging everyone to take the risk seriously.
