Transportation Cabinet offers tips for staying safe on icy roads

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is urging drivers to exercise caution Tuesday, with the possibility of hazardous road conditions, including black ice.

Officials recommend allowing extra time for commutes, maintaining plenty of space between vehicles, and being particularly cautious on bridges, overpasses, and ramps where black ice is more likely to form.

Drivers are also encouraged to pack an emergency car kit and to slow down and move over for vehicles stopped on the roadside.
