Three area baseball/softball teams headed to state tournament

LEXINGTON, Ky (WTVQ) – A season ago, the high school baseball and softball season was over before it started due to the pandemic.  Fast forward to now, stadiums are back to being sold out for fans cheering on their teams.

On Monday night, Lafayette took on Madison Central in a top-ten match-up with a ticket to the state baseball tournament on the line.

MaxPreps has Danville as the second-ranked team in the state.  They took on Somerset for a shot at state and it would come down to the final inning.

In softball, Southwestern hosting Boyle County.  Both teams looking for to take home the 12th Region title.
