Theft suspect accused of injuring deputy during arrest

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Laurel County Sheriff’s deputy injured his hand during a struggle to arrest a theft suspect on Wednesday, according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators say 34-year old Prentice Buckles, of London, is accused of stealing a vehicle from a power line crew, driving it to his house, taking the owner’s belongings, including a wallet, and going inside his house off Old Crab Orchard Road.

Investigators say when they arrived at the home, Buckles tried to run out the back door, but went back inside where he struggled with deputies during his arrest.

Investigators say Deputy Taylor McDaniel injured his hand during the arrest.  They say Buckles was under the influence.

He was taken to jail on a number of charges, including an outstanding bench warrant for failing to show up to court to answer to a public intoxication-controlled substances charge, according to deputies.
