JERUSALEM (AP) — The Latest on Shimon Peres, Israel’s former president, who was rushed to the hospital after suffering a stroke. (all times local):

9:05 p.m.

The office of Shimon Peres says Israel’s former president has been sedated and placed on a respirator after suffering a stroke and being rushed to a hospital.

His office says the 93-year-old is expected to undergo a CT scan following Tuesday’s emergency.

Israeli TV stations say Peres is suffering bleeding in the brain and describe the stroke as serious.

Peres has held virtually every senior political office in Israel over a seven-decade career, including three terms as prime minister as well as stints as foreign minister and finance minister.

He won the 1994 Nobel Peace Prize for his work in reaching an interim peace agreement with the Palestinians.

A spokeswoman for Shimon Peres says the former Israeli president has suffered a stroke and been rushed to a hospital.

In a statement, Ayelet Frisch said Tuesday that he was stable and fully conscious. She gave no further details.

Peres, 93, has held virtually every senior political office in Israel over a seven-decade career. He stepped down as president in 2014 after completing a seven-year term.
