‘The Harris and Beshear ticket would be unbeatable’: UAW President speaks on Harris’ potential running mate

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — Shawn Fain, President of the United Automobile Workers, showed his support for Governor Andy Beshear as Vice President Kamala Harris’ potential running mate.

“I just believe he brings a huge dynamic and I believe the Harris and Beshear ticket would be unbeatable,” Fain said on CBS Face the Nation.

As the decision narrows, Harris will choose between Beshear, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, and a few others.

“We really like Tim Walz from Minnesota also, think he’s an awesome guy for labor. 100%, behind labor. And those would be our top two if we had to pick any,” Fain said.

The UAW here in Kentucky agrees with Fain. President of the UAW in Louisville and President of Central Labor Council Todd Dunn says he couldn’t think of anyone better than Beshear for this role.

It doesn’t make sense not to support it for him and it makes even more sense to try to educate and show America what it is – what we have – and why we as Kentuckians want the whole entire United States of America to have,” Dunn said.

Adding that for as long as he’s worked with Beshear, he believes the governor supports the working class, and will bring those same goals to the whole country.
