The doctor is in: State offering online physician service

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Physicians can be accessed any time of day, 365 days a year from nearly anywhere in the U.S. using a service now available for more than 265,000 Kentucky state employees, teachers and retirees.

The Personnel Cabinet’s Kentucky Employees’ Health Plan made a telehealth service called LiveHealth Online available to members starting this week. It is available at no cost for the rest of 2015.

LiveHealth Online is accessible using a computer, smartphone or tablet with video capabilities. It offers secure and private video chats with board-certified physicians for help with ailments such as colds, the flu, allergies and fevers. If medication is needed, the physician can send prescriptions to a local pharmacy.
