The Craft Nook

25th Annual Country Christmas Open House

Speaker 1:           Welcome back to Good Day Kentucky. I am here with Susan. You own The Craft Nook here in Winchester. Susan, thank you so much for having us.

Susan:                   You’re very welcome. Thank you for coming over.

Speaker 1:           Well, I have to tell you as soon as you walk in, it’s like this magical wonderland of the holidays. It’s a hidden gem here.

Susan:                   Oh, well, we try, and this year is especially great for us because it’s our 25th Christmas Open House.

Speaker 1:           Wow. So, you have been here quite a while.

Susan:                   Yeah.

Speaker 1:           Now, I’ve heard your open houses are kind of legendary. What are we in for this year?

Susan:                   Oh, we have just tons of food to eat. Okay.

Speaker 1:           Important.

Susan:                   Yes, right. So, we feed you so you don’t have to stop anywhere and get anything to eat. I don’t know. Just the atmosphere of Christmas with the … The red truck theme is big this year. The snowmen are always great. Elves, and then we’ve added Hallmark this year. So, we have the Hallmark ornaments and those have been already selling great.

Speaker 1:           They are gorgeous. We’ve walked around already and checked everything out. Alright. Let’s talk about this red truck. You have a theme every year for your open house. What’s that about?

Susan:                   Well, it’s just something where we do upfront and we just kind of bring more of that in the store than any other. There’s so much that with it though. You’ve got the red truck. You have the Buffalo plaid ribbon and ornaments as you can see on this tree back here, and the pillows. You can do your whole room. You can do a whole room. We have the pillows, the throws, those little things. What are they?

Speaker 1:           Stockings, right?

Susan:                   Stockings. Yeah, we got stock- Everything to match.

Speaker 1:           Which makes it nice. That makes it so easy for people. You just come in. Your theme’s kind of like a country Christmas.

Susan:                   Yes. Definitely, country because we’re just a little town in Winchester called Winchester. I love the small stores, the handmade feeling that you get.

Speaker 1:           And, it is. As soon as you walk in, it’s cozy. You want to stay. We already don’t want to go back to the studio. We want to celebrate the holidays. When is your open house?

Susan:                   Okay. This year it’s November 3rd and 4th. This coming Saturday and Sunday and it’s nine to six on Saturday and 12 to five on Sunday.

Speaker 1:           I feel like people might be hitting both up by the way you’re describing this.

Susan:                   Yeah. Sometimes they do, and they’ll take a plate home to whoever didn’t get to come at the time.

Speaker 1:           Which is good because you have plenty of food. We know that.

Susan:                   Yes, yes.

Speaker 1:           Well, you also have plenty of space because you just added on, didn’t you?

Susan:                   That’s right. We added 2,000 square feet. We put two big holes in the wall. One in front, one in back, and we have everything. We have the boutique section with the Simply Southern and the Noel purses, and Sherpa tops. We can just fill it up.

Speaker 1:           And, we don’t want to leave anybody out. You have a lot of UK ornaments back there.

Susan:                   Yes, we do.

Speaker 1:           That you make, and they’re beautiful.

Susan:                   I do, and a lot of the girls here too. I have two college girls that go to UK and they are really artists.

Speaker 1:           Well, you can’t be that. A homemade UK ornament. Come get some food. Come check out all your new Hallmark, and with the bigger area, that means more people can come.

Susan:                   That’s right. We’ll have more room.

Speaker 1:           Alright. This sounds awesome. If you’re interested in coming, how does everybody get here? Where are you located?

Susan:                   Well, we’re on West Lexington Avenue. Winchester Road from Lexington turns into Winchester Road, and we’re right here on the corner. You’ll see us because we usually have to have police out front directing traffic.

Speaker 1:           Because it’s a big event, and-

Susan:                   That’s right.

Speaker 1:           You have the big red truck out there.

Susan:                   That’s right.

Speaker 1:           Alright. Well, come see Susan. Come to The Craft Nook. Get some food. Buy some ornaments, admire the trees. It is gorgeous in here. You’re not going to want to leave. That’s coming up our information is on our website as well as on your screen. Stay with us. Good Day Kentucky. We’ll be right back. Thank you so much, Susan.
